Mark 4; 24
… Take care of what you listen to…
So you’re in the middle of it and words are just flying. Things were said and you don’t really know how that happened. You really didn’t mean to say it. It wasn’t really supposed to end this way. You just wanted that one last word. You wanted to get your point across and out it came.
Where did that stuff come from? Did you hear it at home, from friends, at work? How much of that stuff is ingrained in your life and thoughts? You’ve heard the saying, “garbage in, garbage out”. Where did the garbage you just let tumble out of your mouth come from?
So put a stop to it. Consider what you listen to and change that radio station. I’m talking figuratively hear and literally. Ask God to wash the hard drive in your brain and begin an assertive plan to fill your mind with something else, something good.
No excuses, you can’t tell me you don’t know what good is. Once you make it a habit to bathe yourself in good stuff then when that heated moment arrives only the good stuff will come out. It takes practice and time but take care of what you listen to. Please take care of what you listen to. There are big consequences involved here. Read the rest of the verse. Understand we are talking about judgment here. So take care.
- Where did you learn to argue? Parents? Brothers and sisters?
- What was it like when you were growing up how did the family resolve its problems?
- How is this reflected in the way you deal with problems now?
