It Ain’t A popularity Contest

Luke 6:26

Woe to you when all men speak well of you for in the same…

This Christian walk we are on was never meant to be a popularity contest. In fact being a Christian brings about the very opposite in a great number of people.

If you’re walking around in the non-Christian world you should expect people to have a negative reaction to you. In fact that could be a good indicator that you are being an effective follower of Christ.

Don’t ever try to gain the approval of the world. Don’t play the popularity game. There is only one in which you should seek praise and approval. Only one that provides for eternity.

Let the world keep their opinions to themselves. What they say about you means nothing in the long eternal view.

  1. Where are the people you envied growing up now? Are they still popular and all that?
  2. Don’t gloat if they have fallen. But understand that popularity and good looks are fleeting.
  3. Invest in the things that will last. God, family, and friendships are a good place to start.
