Woe to you when all men speak well of you for in the same way their fathers used to treat the false prophets.
Understand this, there are two sides. The first is God’s side, and the second side is everybody else. You are a threat or at least an annoyance to everyone who is not on your side that is God’s side. You have to expect that they are going to say negative things about you. The other side doesn’t want to have to deal with what we Christians know to be the truth. The truth is there is no other way to save ourselves except through Jesus, the Christ.
They love us for our charity and civic involvements but they don’t like us to meddle in their lives. They don’t want to get chummy with us.
Here is the other side of the coin. If you find yourself in the good graces of the world, if you find that you are being spoken well of then you may be in trouble. You may be on the wrong side.
- Who have you had to “Kiss up” to in your life? Did you have to compromise your Christian walk when you did this?
- Have you had to hide your beliefs to get ahead? Why? Why not?
- Are there ways around getting ahead and staying on the course?
