1 Timothy 6:20
… The opposing arguments of what is falsely called “knowledge”.
It seems that the world is filled with experts. We can watch a movie, see a TV program or read an article and suddenly we are an expert in the field. Research, study, and the gathering of facts have fallen by the wayside. Our world has become inundated with information. The Internet, twitter, blogs, and Facebook have become our source of knowledge.
Understand that to gain the knowledge it takes to be an expert takes a lifetime. Learning is not static, there is a constant flow of information that needs to be assessed and processed. Things change and you have to keep up with those changes in order to continually be an expert.
People are out there that are all puffed up and full of self importance. They want to tell you what to do because they “think” they have the right answers for you.
Our goal, as Christians, is to gain God’s knowledge, and that takes a lifetime of reading, praying, and understanding.
Don’t let the “experts” turn you aside from your goal of godliness. Seek the truth in the expert and center of all knowledge, God.
- So what have you learned this week about God? If you have to think about it then maybe you haven’t been learning?
- To get to know God, you have to spend time with Him.
- Make the decision that you will get to know God by spending time with Him. In His word, in prayer, and conversations with fellow Christians.
- Become an expert on the things above.
