OK, everybody let’s take a deep breath. Breathe in and breathe out, and again breathe in and out, do it nice and slow three times. Now doesn’t that feel better?
Yes, we are in difficult times and things seem to be getting crazier by the day. But, somebody needs to stay calm and it might as well be you. Hey who are we anyway? Aren’t we Christians, the followers of the Christ, the Savior? If we can’t be calm then who can?
Know this; believe this, Jesus is in control. Our Lord holds us in the palm of His hand. We need to take comfort in that and stand on the promise of God’s protection.
I know it’s easy to say but so very hard to do. But take a break, step back, take a good thoughtful look at your situation and conditions.
Do these four things:
- Understand that it is never, never as bad as we think
- Make a list your priorities and work on them first. Don’t be overwhelmed by the little stuff.
- Ask for help and accept help. Don’t be too proud. Start with God first. Then ask for help and guidance from your Christian brothers and sisters.
- Calm yourself. Take care of yourself physically, mentally and especially spiritually.
Repeat this simple prayer:
God grant me the Serenity
To accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can
And Wisdom to know the difference
