Rules! Rules! Rules!
I am sorry but we have to have rules. There is no way around it.
What are the rules in your household? Does everyone know what they are or do you just make them up as you go along? Here are some family rules that you should consider for your house and some of the reasons why.
- Bedtime Rules:
Your children dearly need their sleep. Enforce the bedtime rules and stick to them.
Be flexible on weekends and during vacations.
However, they still need at least 8 hours or more of shut eye, every night. This goes for those night owl teens too.
This is a biological and psychological necessity. Your kids will not do well in school and without enough sleep will not grow strong and healthy.
Again you need to model sleeping practices by going to bed at a decent hour. I know your time is when the kiddos are bedded down. But you need the sleep as much as the kids do.
Hey, nap time is an essential too. Naps are good for kids and adults as well.
