Priorities for a Successful Family
These are some of the priorities that I feel every family needs to survive as fully functioning units. You can get along without them but to be a true family you need to have these.
Priority Number 5
The final and last step in having a successful family is to have a sense of humor. Yes, we need to laugh at the crazy thing God has brought together that is our family. If you do not have a sense of humor when it comes to the daily foibles that occur in your family, then you need to lighten up.
Kids do, and say, the funniest things as they attempt to grow up and make meaning out of this world. Mistakes are made and silly things happen as we all try to negotiate through life’s travails. We need to laugh at life, and especially at ourselves.
God has a smile on his face when he looks down on us. He said from the beginning that this all is “Good”. Despite what you think right now, it truly is good and sometimes very funny.
Drinks are spilled, toilets overflow, and good jokes are played in healthy families. The healthy family goes with the flow (in more ways than one); they love each other and laugh at what life has given them.
Enjoy the ride. It is better than anything is on T.V. and costs a lot less than Magic Mountain.
